It was a cold, wet Thursday morning. Raindrops scattered from the thickening clouds, engulfing the sky in a somber gray. All was quiet at Ryan’s Roses Detective Agency—almost too quiet. Suddenly, the chime of the entry doorbell broke the silence, announcing the arrival of a young woman.

“Welcome to Ryan’s Roses. How may I help you?” Ryan asked, concern etched on his face as he looked up from his desk. The woman approached, finding comfort in Ryan’s attentive demeanor as he prepared to take notes. She began her tale: her fiancé had a long commute to work, so long that he occasionally stayed overnight with a friend—a friend who happened to be a woman.

This revelation didn’t sit well with Ryan, who understood the potential complications such a situation could bring to a relationship. Ryan’s assistants, Sissane and Tanya, were within earshot, listening intently and sharing Ryan’s unease. There was a significant wrinkle: unbeknownst to the fiancé, the woman had learned from one of his friends that he had once had an intimate encounter with this female friend. Despite her direct questioning, her fiancé denied any such past, shaking the foundation of trust between them. The wedding—and their future—hung in the balance.

With the facts in hand, Ryan assigned Sissane the task of contacting the fiancé. Anticipation hung thick in the air as the phone rang. Finally, a voice answered.

“Hello?” came the inquisitive response.

Sissane launched into her pitch, informing the fiancé that he had been selected to receive a dozen roses to send to anyone of his choosing. Naturally, he was hesitant, suspecting a scam. But Sissane, ever the professional, assured him it was genuine, convincing him to accept the offer. With a hint of excitement, he requested the roses be sent to his fiancé, initially suggesting his faithfulness.

After the reveal, Ryan interjected, explaining the situation to the man on the other end. The fiancé immediately professed his love, insisting that his overnight stays were purely platonic and that his fiancé had nothing to worry about. However, the woman, unconvinced, revealed her knowledge of his omission regarding the true nature of his past with the female friend. Doubt clouded her mind, despite his repeated assurances. With disappointment and insecurity in her voice, she told him they had much to discuss, signaling that this was far from over. Ryan, Sissane, and Tanya closed another case, but the story was far from finished.

Verdict: Not guilty, but more charges could be pending.

What do you think? Is it acceptable to stay overnight at a friend’s house of the opposite sex when you’re in a relationship? And what about the man’s insistence on denying the past encounter? Would that change your perspective? Share your thoughts in the comments. As always, thank you for visiting.

Until next time!
